Happy Halloween!

From Zketch! Happy Halloween! and here's the little sweets witch that steals kid's candy... and their souls too! A little inspired by Souleater. Isn't she cute?

Laughing Donkus

Something random for today. I'm working on my Halloween sketch and I just played around with things today and came up with a happy donkus. He's happy, but I think I'll keep working on it to make it look kinda crazy and happy =O

Teen Boy

I'm totally monopolizing this blog.  Sorry, just have had lots of time this month to study zbrush for FUN.  Finally brought all the different render passes into Photoshop for this new character.  I also found a good hair tutorial in last month's issue of 3D Artist, so this hair is a bit more successful than my last attempt at fibermesh.  I still need to try adding a zipper, and maybe a logo on his tee shirt ~Mo

90 minute sketches

A few short sculpts (60 and 90 minutes) -- just having too much fun with this software.  After a quick sculpt I really feel like I've been working with clay -- but nothing to clean up.  ~Mo

Shantae!

So on top I have the model of Shantae, and on the bottom I have the first attempt/experiment/try at making it look like a drawing! it needs tweaks I know, I just did a quick 5 minutes thing, but I'll work on it later and look around for more ideas to make my project come through!

Shantae V 0.5

Since I haven't been posting a lot due to me having to work a lot on other projects (they're art. 2D, drawings, gfx etc but at least I'm doing art!) I'm going to post this as a preview. I've some big plans for this Shantae model and I'm going to experiment with flat color to do some 2D art with a 3D model! =p

This is just the start but I layed down the basic shape of the body and the baggy pants as well as hair. I'm going to post Shantae at least 2 more times for my full project to be completed, but I'll be working on my Halloween sketch too, since I want to make something sorta big for this one and 9 days to finish this! So I'll have to juggle all those projects and this =p

Triclops

One more by me -- he started as a speed sculpt, but I ended up working on him for about three hours.  It was a Zbrush weekend for me.  Happy Halloween! ~Mo

Hair!

Two technical experiments the past couple of days: Using fibermesh for long hair, and topology to make a simple hood.  Long hair is hard, but trying to tame it is kind of mesmerizing.  ~Mo

Introduction!

Hi, I'm Mo Manning -- Jim invited me to post here, so thank you Jim!  I'm looking forward to browsing through everyone's work.  Primarily, I'm a children's illustrator -- but I love drawing "fantastical" stuff too.

I'm fairly new at Z-brush -- at least in hours spent using it.  I've been giving it a go now and then over the past couple years, but since I'm teaching myself, it's kind of slow.  I'm also trying to learn Maya. (I am subscribed to Digital Tutors, which has helped.)  I seem to get busy and leave the 3D programs  for a few months at a time, then get re-inspired and find that technically I'm pretty much back at square one.  Argh.

Here's my current work in progress (based on one of my 2D illustrations.)  I've been working on it for three days -- made a mistake with the fur rug and it's all fiber-meshed on the underside too :)  I will probably do a few more tweaks with the baby's hair and attempt some textures, but I'm ready to just move on to something new.

Oh -- has anyone done any 3D printing of their models yet?  That's actually my goal (beyond just playing with this software.)

~Mo

Rawr!-- I've no idea what this is.

Cause Kaiju are always relevant and you can't prove me wrong! and if you try, I won't share my snacks with you and hex you while at it, too.

I meant to make a Kaiju, but it ended up being half Kaiju, half shark, half dragon and half stone. I had fun with it though.

Madame Leota

Wanted to do something real quick, so took a couple of hours and here is what I came up with, Madame Leota. The face I started with a sphere in zbrush and the crystal ball was done real quick in maya.

Hey, just posting a quick sculpt of some anatomy practice. Started from a sphere, cheers!

Vela v0.7

Revisiting old projects. Who knows? I might finish this one. There's a lot of work ahead of this one since I want to make the textures borderlands style, so... so far it's just the base color on top of everything right now.

Thrax Side Views

Cause it was requested. Like I said you can't see much cause there's no color and the horns get in the way, but I'm sure you get the idea =O

Rocks!!!

Made this guy this afternoon to brush up on some old techniques and try out some new ones...  Took about 5 hours from start to finish...  What'ya guys think?

Compositing Practice

This was done a week ago, the exercise was a practice using Zbrush and Photoshop to composite.
Using Color Spray with Alphas to do the Skin Textures. Need to fix the Ear, but making some detail progress...

RE-visted Planning on pushing to completion

Halloween in Zketch!

Hullo, Kay here.

Do we have enough people interested on doing a special Halloween sketch? Something very Zketch, which means you can do a little or a lot. It would also not be a competition but more of a festive way of celebrating Halloween cause it's awesome; It's about monsters and candy, how could it not be great?

We could take 5-8 days to make the special sketches. Again, the work put into them depends on how much you want to do, Zketch is open minded!

If you'd like to participate just leave a message here or post some ideas to get some feedback. If we get enough entries we'll make our own Halloween special page to store our sketches there!

Also, embrace Zketch-- no, that's getting pretty cult like, Imma just stop now. =D

Kay, I was looking at your post and I thought it looked like squidward and Marshal Eriksen of "How I met your mother" had a love child... then I found this...

Thrax

I don't think anyone knows who this guy is without good ol' google here =p. Now, this looks cool and all but it doesn't show the crazy amounts of asymmetry it has... well it does, but half of it's face and head are red like muscle and the right side is some sort of ugly human skin. Half of the face has metal palting and chin guard and the other half has a bone jaw chin guard.

Notice the deformed nose! and no lips on his face! also, the lines on the head are even messier than the ones drawn there but I didn't want to make them even more messier. The horn lines are tighter together and sharper, but I don't know how to do that.

"Fido"

Hi, my name is Jessica. This is my first time posting on here. Here is a little creature guy I sketched up real quick and thought would be fun to sculpt in zbrush.

30 or 40 Minute Sculpt of an Alien Thing

Just started playing around, thinking about finishing it. Don't know what I want to do with its limbs yet though, so any ideas are welcome.

Thinned the Hair a bit...

New Character...WIP

Working on this character with inspiration from Warhammer 40k Space Marines, Paul Bonner's art and Gears of War. Really trying to get the war-torn, burly guy head to support the rest of the character.

Female Bod Study

Yeah yeah, I know. Yeah, I also know that. Who's body standards are these? not models, too skinny. Not the "realistic" ones, too old. This is more of a glam model standards I suppose, or comic book female standards.
This is another dynamesh demo for a class. Its still rough, but I will finish it sometime.

The Demonic One

Blahbleeeh! He's like that. He's a nice one, though. Besides skinning people alive and terrorizing the souls of mortals, The Demonic One also collects stamps and likes long walks on the beach. He's also one that likes to hug it's significant other, but above all, likes kissing-- specially, french kissing =p
